Drew Wierzbowski
Drew has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from The College of New Jersey, a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from the University of Southern California and a Certificate in Instructional Computing and Development from The College of New Jersey. He is a past winner of the Young Performers Competition sponsored by the National Association of Composers, USA held in Los Angeles, California.
Active as a freelance musician, Drew specializes in many woodwind instruments. He has studied Clarinet with Anthony Gigliotti and Mitchell Lurie, Flute with Patricia Garside and Al Regni, Saxophone with Douglas Masek and Al Regni, Oboe and English Horn with Leslie Godfrey.
Over the years Drew has performed with and continues to perform with many ensembles representing a variety of musical styles. Orchestral: Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea, Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, Plainfield Symphony, Bay Atlantic Symphony, Newtown Chamber Orchestra, Riverside Symphonia. Opera: Boheme Opera NJ, Metro Lyric Opera of NJ. Chamber Music: Philadelphia Saxophone Quartet, Garden State Wind Quintet. Concert Band: Asbury Park Concert Band, John Luckenbill Pops Band. Big Band: Jazz Celebration, Midnight Sun Orchestra, Sentimental Journey. Historical: Fifes and Drums of the Old Barracks, New Jersey Fifes and Drums. He has had the pleasure of working with many notable people including Marvin Hamlisch, John Lithgow and The Irish Tenors – Anthony Kearns, Declan Kelly and Ronan Tynan. Recordings include The Best Christmas Ever, Father Alphonse’s 3 Tenor Christmas (Orchestra of St Peter by the Sea), Little Girl with a Big Band (Jazz Celebration) and Guardian Angels (Fifes and Drum of the Old Barracks). Drew can often be heard playing musicals in pit orchestras for various theaters throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania
Drew retired as a Music educator after 31 years of teaching in many New Jersey schools. He taught at all levels from Grade 3 through college. Currently, Drew is an adjudicator for Trills & amp; Thrills Music Festivals.
